Michel Rivera (25-1) is still shaking his head at the upcoming fight between Rolando “Rolly” Romero (15-1) and Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (25-2-1).

Their fight serves as the chief support to Keith Thurman-Tim Tszyu, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 30.

The pay-per-view fight card will also be Premier Boxing Champions’ first under their new agreement with streaming giant Amazon Prime.

“I don’t know which of those two idiots will win,” Rivera said with a laugh. “Probably Chihuahua Cruz will beat the dummy Rolly but anything can happen.”

Rivera has campaigned for a fight with both fighters for over a year and doesn’t understand why they are fighting each other.

Romero is coming off of a controversial TKO win over Ismael Barroso. He was down on all three scorecards when the fight was stopped, to many observers’ minds prematurely, by Tony Weeks.

Cruz has been campaigning in the lightweight division so the fight announcement came as a complete shock to Rivera.

“This fight doesn’t make any sense,” Rivera told BoxingScene.com. ”Again, Pitbull should win but anything can happen in boxing.

“Barroso beat Rolly and they gifted the title to him and Chihuahua Cruz has never fought at 140 pounds and he is getting a shot at a world title.”

Rivera bounced back from his first career defeat by beating former champion Sergey Lipinets via unanimous decision in November.
