Before they even signed their contracts to fight, the World Boxing Council ordered the winner of the upcoming clash between WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco, and challenger Miguel Román, to face former champion Jorge Linares in the month of June. DeMarco defends the WBC crown against Roman on Saturday March 17 in the city of Los Mochis, Sinaloa. Baja Boxing is the lead promoter of the show.

"I'm closing my preparation. I am preparing myself better than ever. When I fought for the world championship for the first time in Argentina, I felt a lot of pressure. I wanted to knock him out. Now I'm more of a mature boxer. I already know what it's like to fight for a world title and this time I will not miss my opportunity," said Román.

Roman lost to Jonathan Barros, then the WBO featherweight champion, on March 12, 2011.

"I want to thank my promoters, Reginald and Oswaldo Kuchle, for putting their trust in me with this new opportunity. I promise that I will not disappoint them. I'm ready to die to get the championship," Roman said.
