There could be an opponent switch for the defending WBA champion at 108-pounds, Roman "Chocolate" Gonzalez, who returns on Jul 9th in Mexico at a location to be determined. Initially, it was thought that Omar Salado would be the opponent for Gonzalez, but new reports coming in are suggesting that Omar "Lobito" Soto could land the shot. The opponent has yet to be finalized. Soto is a 31 year old fighter from the city of Hidalgo. His record shows 21 wins (15 knockouts), seven defeats and two draws in a career that took off in May 2000.

During Soto's career, he has had two world title chances, the first in May 2006 against IBF king Muhammad Rachman at 105 pounds where he was stopped in six rounds. Then in June 2009 he was stopped by Argentina's WBO champion Omar Narvaez.

"I'm going strong in the gym and I'll be able to retain my crown against whoever my opponent will be," said Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez.
