Pound for-pound king Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez was excited on Monday, when he spoke to representatives of the media at the Roger Deshon Gym in the San Judas

He advised members of the press that his next opponent, on March 5th in Los Angeles, would be former world champion Giovanni Segura of Mexico. This past December Segura ruled out a world title fight in Panama against Luis "El Nica" Concepcion, in view of this commitment against Gonzalez for the WBC flyweight crown.

But now Chocolatito states that he was misinformed, sending a note to media members that he doesn't have a set date opponent.

"Please forgive me, brothers. I was badly informed. For now I have no date for the next fight, much less an opponent. Blessings," Gonzalez stated.

Gonzalez's manager, Carlos Blandon, wants the boxer back in late February or early March, but says there is nothing set in stone regarding the opponent.

According to reports in Mexico, Segura is still being discussed as the potential opponent.

Most fans want him to fight is WBA/WBO flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada, but that fight is not going to happen next. The end of the year is more likely if the two sides could agree on the money and obtain the necessary funds to satisfy the monetary demands of both fighters.
