The undefeated and aggressive body puncher, Roman "Chocolatito Gonzalez, who is currently the world champion at 108-pounds under the World Boxing Association (WBA), issued a challenge to unify his title with Mexico's champion under the World Boxing Council (WBC), Adrian "The Confessor" Hernández.

"It is time to seek unification fights and I would like to face the WBC champion, who I would even fight for free in his own hometown. I saw his fight with Gilberto Keb Bass and I think that was very helpful. My most sincere respects to Keb Bass, his belt was taken away unfairly. I have so much confidence in being able to beat Hernandez that I'll fight him anytime, anywhere. He can even his family take the positions of the judges and referee - because the end result will be the same. I'll knock him out and it would be ugly," said Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez's statements were strange, because usually he doesn't take part in direct verbal attacks. In fact, the only fighter where Gonzalez had directly challenged so far has been Mexico's Giovanni Segura who recently moved up in weight to find a belt at 112 pounds.

"I have asked my promoters Prodesa, Zanfer, and Teiken to do whatever it takes to make that fight become a reality. I asked them to work together to get me that fight. I am willing to sacrifice my salary to have the opportunity to face Hernandez because I really want to show my quality," said the boxer undefeated in 28 fights with 23 completed by knockout.

Gonzalez will first defend his title on July 9th in Mexico. The opponent has not been finalized.
