The junior flyweight world champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, feels better than ever to defend his title this coming March 19th in Chiapas, Mexico against veteran Manuel "Chango" Vargas. Gonzalez is already on his way to making weight and expects no problems coming in at 108-pounds at the official weigh-in.

"Everything is going well and I'm happy about my next fight. I hope to win in emphatic fashion," said Gonzalez, who won the crown last October in Japan with a win over another Mexican fighter, Francisco "La Chiquita" Rosas.

The Nicaraguan's opponent is a fighter with an interesting feature, he always likes to come forward and he's not shy away from exchanging hard punches. However, that would be a glaring risk for Vargas to trade punches with the champion.

“He's a brave fighter and I respect him for what he's done in his career, but he's going to face an opponent with the tools to make it very hard for him," Gonzalez said.

Vargas, although he lost to filipino Donnie Nietes, will have a new opportunity to grab gold and glory on March 19.
