With the withdrawal of WBA junior flyweight champion Juan Carlos Reveco, who suffered a recurrence of an old kidney ailment that could keep away from boxing for several months, the promoters began to hunt for a new opponent to face WBA minimumweight champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez of Nicaragua.

Mexico's Francisco "Chiquita" Rosas, ranked number three in the WBA rankings, will step in to face Gonzalez for the WBA's interim title at flyweight. The winner will get a shot at Reveco. The fight will be a rematch of their clash from February 28, 2009 in Mexico, where Gonzalez won his WBA title one weight class below.

The fight between Rosas and Gonzalez will happen on October 24 at the big show taking place at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
