Accompanied by his characteristic smile, WBA junior flyweight world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (35-0, 28 KOs), was present at a press conference to announce his opponent for September 21 at the Crowne Plaza in Managua, Nicaragua. The show will be presented by Prodesa. Gonzalez will face Mexico's Francisco Rodriguez Jr. (15-1-1, 9 KOs). Gonzalez will be making his official debut at 112-pounds.

"That night I'll be much better prepared than when I faced Colombian Ronald Barrera. He is a southpaw boxer and eager to rise, and he's used to fighting at 112 pounds, where I just dabbled [at the weight], but I'll be ready," Gonzalez said.

If he wins on September 21, Gonzalez's immediate plans will likely be against Argentina's Juan Carlos Revecco (31-1, 17 KOs), who holds the WBA crown at 112 pounds WBA and defends the belt on the 28th of this month against Panama's Ricardo Nunez. Gonzalez-Reveco would happen in the month of November in Japan.

"No disrespect to the Mexican on September 21, but the truth is my goal is Reveco. I want to become a triple world champion and I trust in God that I will be. The Argentine is one of those opponents that I've wanted to face and according to Mr. Akihiko Honda, my international promoter, the fight will happen because they are offering him a good purse," Gonzalez said.
