The Forum, Inglewood, California - Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez scored an impressive and one-sided second round technical knockout over Edgar Sosa.

Gonzalez was making his long-awaited HBO debut and his third appearance in Southern California. Sosa figured to give Gonzalez a significant test, but it was all Gonzalez front he opening bell.

Gonzalez was on the offensive, scoring repeatedly with left hooks and straight right hands to the head. Sosa was on the defensive and tried to counter Gonzalez with combinations, but would get caught repeatedly to the head.

Things got worse for Sosa at the beginning of the second round. Gonzalez dropped Sosa with a right cross to the head. Sosa got up, but was met with a cascade of punches from Gonzalez. Moments later, a short left hook to the head dropped Sosa to the canvas.

Sosa got up a second time, but it was only a matter of time as Gonzalez went in for the kill. Gonzalez trapped Sosa against the ropes, landing at will before Sosa slumped down to the canvas. Referee Raul Caiz, Sr. waved the fight over at 2:37.

Gonzalez landed 72 out of 130 punches (55 percent), while Sosa landed 14 out of 106 punches (13 percent).

"I felt good about my performance," said Gonzalez, who successfully defended his WBC World flyweight title. "It was important for me to show my talent on HBO so people could see what I have."

Gonzalez improves to 43-0, 37 KOs, while Sosa drops to 51-9, 30 KOs.
