Rocky Fielding has had his next fight confirmed.

The super-middleweight, who holds the British and Commonwealth titles and who ousted David Brophy inside a round back in September, will fight again before the end of the year.

Fielding had intimated that he would be on the undercard of Tony Bellew’s rematch against David Haye next month.

And the 30-year-old has now been confirmed for the bill on December 17 at London’s O2 Arena, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.

He will come up against former light-heavyweight Erik Skoglund with the vacant WBC Silver crown at stake.

Skoglund, from Sweden, was on these shores as recently as September when, two weeks before Fielding’s demolition of Brophy, he was outpointed by Callum Smith in a challenge for the then-vacant WBC Diamond world title in the quarter-finals of the World Boxing Super Series.

There had been talk, after Fielding beat Brophy, that he would fight for the European title against Hadillah Mohoumadi.

But ‘Rocky From Stocky’ believes this fight is bigger and better.

“Skoglund has just come out of the Super Series and they are all classed as world class fighters,” said Fielding. “So I am up against a world class operator and whoever wins can go on to fight for a world title next.

“He boxed well against Callum. He's got a good jab and his movement was good. People had doubts about the weight for him dropping down from light-heavyweight but it didn't look a problem.

“He's got a good boxing brain and I know that this is going to be a really tough fight.”

Skoglund, meanwhile, is looking forward to getting back in to the ring and believes that a victory in this fight will put him in pole position for a world title fight.

He said: “Sadly I fell short in a close fight in the World Boxing Super Series tournament. As I think I should have gone further in that tournament my goal is to become world champion as the tournament moves on, and later on fight the winner.

“I hope that can lead to a rematch with Callum Smith.

“Fielding is a good opponent who can really punch. I will need to stay sharp and focused all the time, but as long as I can do that, I can’t see him beating me.

“Everyone has a punchers’ chance, and that’s the only chance I give Fielding.”

Fielding’s clash with Skoglund on the Bellew-Haye II card will be flanked by another outing for Craig Glover, the Tony Bellew-managed cruiserweight, and the Commonwealth heavyweight title rematch between Lenroy Thomas and David Allen.

Further undercard additions will be revealed in due course.
