SES have not confirmed it but according to the EBU there is an agreement in place for EBU light heavyweight champ Robert Stieglitz (50-5-2) to defend the title against stablemate Dominic Boesel (24-0) on June 24 in Magdeburg.

It was expected that either Stieglitz or Boesel would step aside rather than fight each other but apparently they thought otherwise. Stieglitz comes off a disappointing draw against Nikola Sjekloca in his last outing and afterwards hinted at retirement. On the same show Boesel added the IBF I/C belt to his collection. He already holds the WBA Cont´l and WBO I/C titles.

Also on the June 24 bill, again not confirmed by SES, is EBU heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel in a voluntary defence against an opponent to be announced.

In Finland feelings are running hot after Francesco Patera´s upset win against defending EBU lightweight champ Edis Tatli Saturday night. Tatli and his coach Pekka Maeki will make an official protest to the EBU and feel they were robbed of a clear win. Some members of the press had Tatli winning by as much as six points.

The network MTV did a survey with its viewers and 67 % had Tatli winning. However, most experts agree with that Tatli left it too close by allowing the quickhanded challenger to dictate the pace and getting off first and while he didn´t score with much his workrate impressed the judges. For Tatli it is now back to the drawingboard and a possible shot at WBO champ Terry Flanagan is now off.
