BoxingScene.com caught up with Ruben Guerrero, who is the father and trainer of 2 division champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero at a recent media workout at the Pound 4 Pound Gym in Las Vegas.

The elder Guerrero feels that his son will put on one of the best performances of his career when he faces Michael Katsidis on April 9th in the co-featured bout to the Marcos Maidana-Erik Morales main event.  One of the reasons why he is so confident in his son's ability is that Robert's wife has been cancer free over a year.  That has enable the younger Guerrero to go off to training camp instead of training at home.

"Robert will make a statement on April 9th.  He won't look for the knockout.  You know when you look for it, it never comes but it will happen.  I can't tell you when.  It could be early or the middle rounds.  I just feel it will come.  Look at him.  Look how fast he is and he is sitting on his punches," Ruben Guerrero told BoxingScene.com.

Robert said that this was the best training camp he has ever had.  He cited the combination of running up Mount Charleston and being away from the distractions at home as the reasons why this training camp has been so successful.  "This really has been my best training camp ever.  Everyone always says that but I really mean that.  I can say there aren't any distractions at home but there are.  Here I can just train hard.  Running Mount Charleston at that 11,000 foot elevation is great too."

The Gilroy, California native feels that the fact that he is a southpaw, coupled with his hand speed, will be too much for his rugged Australian opponent to overcome.  "I think my speed and the fact that I am left handed will be too much for him.  He is a tough guy but I don't think he has ever faced anyone like me."

After the Katsidis fight Guerrero said that he wants even bigger fights and is looking to move up to 140 pounds soon.
