Robert Garcia agrees with veteran trainer Kenny Adams - former champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero would be a tougher opponent than Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, in terms of styles, for WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. With no Manny Pacquiao fight in sight, Mayweather is looking for a new challenge on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Alvarez, according to most, is the leading candidate to get the fight. Guerrero, after weeks of campaigning, has been ruled out.

BoxingScene.com:  Robert how does a fight with Mayweather and Robert Guerrero or Canelo play out, and who do you think he will pick?

Robert Garcia:  I honestly  I think if it’s between those two, Mayweather will pick Canelo because Floyd will perform better against Canelo who will stay right there in front of him.  It will be a perfect fight for Mayweather to look good.  Guerrero will be tougher because he’s a left hander and he’s a fighter that won’t stay there in front of him.  Also, Guerrero is going to be smarter in the ring.  So if I had to choose between those two I think Mayweather is going to pick Canelo.

BoxingScene.com: So what you’re saying, Canelo is an easier fight for Mayweather than Guerrero?

Robert Garcia:  Yes, I would say so, because stylistically Guerrero gives him more problems.
