Angel "Memo" Heredia has advised BoxingScene.com that two-time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez has retained his services for his upcoming fight.

The highly decorated amateur who came out of the Cuban program captured the 2016 gold medal by defeating current WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson in the champion round.

There was a lot of hype surrounding his pro debut which ended in a shocking manner as Ramirez was dropped and lost a split decision to Adan Gonzales.

After that loss Ramirez enlisted the services of world class trainer Ismael Salas and defeated Fernando Ibarra De Anda by knockout to improve his record to 1-1.

The next step in his progression is bringing Heredia aboard.

"I met him recently and I saw him train and work and he seems to be a very disciplined kid when it comes to his training. He said he wanted to come train with me and we came to an agreement and we will start training as soon as possible," Heredia told BoxingScene.com. "I will be taking care of his conditioning. We are going to work on making him stronger. He has great boxing technique so we want to make him stronger and maintain his speed."

Heredia, who's stable of boxers includes world champions such as Jean Pascal and Johnriel Casimero, believes that Ramirez has all of the tools needed to reach the top levels of the sport.

"I like him. For one, he is very talented, two he is very disciplined and consistent and three, he is an Olympic gold medalist so it is an honor for me and my team to have a guy like that. I am very excited to be able to help him get to the next level. The Olympics and professional level is completely different and he knows that and that is why he wants to step up in the game," Heredia stated.
