Barclays Center, Brooklyn - Freddie Roach, trainer of WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs), believes his fighter is fully capable of scoring a spectacular knockout over Mexican star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs).

Since hooking up with Roach, Cotto has been blasting through the competition with crushing knockout wins over Delvin Rodriguez, Sergio Martinez and on Saturday he stopped Daniel Geale in four rounds.

The likely fight for the fall will come against Canelo, in the headline fight of an HBO Pay-Per-View event.

Canelo has a solid chin and stood up to the hard punches of Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara and James Kirkland.

Roach has carefully studied the style of Canelo and sees it, stylistically, as a very favorable match for Cotto.

"I think so," stated Roach when asked if Cotto is capable of pulling out a spectacular knockout of Canelo

"I've thought about that fight a lot, and I've watched a lot of tape on that opponent. And I actually thought that it would happen sooner than it is. But I do like that fight. I think it's great for us, it's a great fight for boxing and it's a great fight for the world. It's two really good fighters going at it and that's what we want to see. I will get Miguel ready for that fight and I feel we will win that fight."
