Trainer Freddie Roach was not impressed with Chris Algieri's performance on Saturday night. Algieri went down six times during his lopsided twelve round decision loss to WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night.

During the entire fight week, Roach told anyone who would listen that Algieri "was in way over his head" against Pacquiao.

Roach was fight. Pacquiao dominated the action from the very start and had Algieri on the run for most of the contest, which made Roach wonder if Algieri was "preparing for a marathon."

Prior to the fight, Roach felt the talent level of was so uneven that Pacquiao was going to score a first round knockout. That didn't happen, but Roach still strongly believes Algieri had no business being in that fight.

"I wasn't really, really impressed with him getting off the canvas. He was hurt once really bad, I thought, and the referee almost stopped the fight. The rest were really like flash knockdowns. I think they were choices. I don't think he really went down because of the punch. He was just so scared of Manny [and intentionally went down to avoid more punches]. He just didn't belong there. He didn't belong in the ring with Manny Pacquiao," Roach told BoxingScene.com.
