After carefully analyzing his immediate future, Rigoberto "Espanol" Alvarez has decided to return to the gym to fight in the middle of next July.

The Jalisco boxer held the world welterweight belt recognized by the World Boxing Association (WBA) last October in a tremendous struggle to overcome Japan's Nobuhiro Ishida, the same boxer who recently had an amazing debut in Las Vegas.

Rigoberto, the older brother of Canelo Alvarez, had a bad night a couple of months ago in Guadalajara, where the Austin American Trout beat him for the belt.

"Something strange happened, my body did not respond as I wanted and unfortunately they took the belt, but I think I can reclaim my title, " he said.

Rigoberto Alvarez (26-3, 19 KOs) is eyeing the experienced and combative Jose Luis Zertuche, a combination that looks very attractive because they both have dynamite in their fists.

Under the tutelage of CANELO PROMOTIONS, Juanacatlán left-hander is looking to make a lasting impression in the junior middleweight division.
