Former junior featherweight world titleholder Rico Ramos only needed three rounds to put away Prosper Ankrah on Saturday night. Ramos' power punches were the key and he used them to drill Ankrah in third. 

The the fight was scheduled for eight rounds at featherweight and took place at the Los Angeles Badminton Club in El Monte, Calif.

Coming into this fight, Ramos (26-5, 13 KOs) was 2-2 in his last four. In his last bout on June 11, Ramos dropped Justin Savi to win an eight round unanimous decision. After winning his first 20 fights bouts as a pro, Ramos won five of his last 10 prior to Saturday.

Ramos won the WBA junior featherweight world title in July of 2011, knocking out Akifumi Shimoda in the seventh round. He would lose the world title in his first defense against Guillermo Rigondeaux over six months later.

Coming into tonight, Ankrah (24-9, 15 KOs) had lost his last four bouts in a row. In his last bout on July 9, Ankrah lost a one-sided decision to Manuel ‘Tino’ Avila.

Fringe welterweight contender Kim Poulsen (27-4, 7 KOs) of Denmark was unable to find success in the United States and suffered a second round technical knockout loss to Gaku Takahashi (14-6-1, 6 KOs). Poulsen was unable to continue due to a potential broken jaw.

Junior middleweight Madiyar Ashkeyev (6-0, 3 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over Martez Jackson (3-1-2, 2 KOs). The scores were 58-54, 59-53, 58-54.
