PUNTERS on Betfair are backing Ricky Burns to make a successful first defence of his WBO super featherweight title against Andreas Evensen on Saturday in Glasgow. The Scot is the big odds-on favourite at 1-12 to retain the title he won three months ago.

Title challenger Andreas Evensen has talked up his chances ahead of the fight, but odds of 11-1 suggest his championship bid could end in disappointment. The draw trades at 33-1.

Burns can be backed at 7-4 to add another knockout to his record, while he is odds on at 8-11 to win by judges’ decision. Evensen is a 12-1 shot to win the bout, and with it the title, by way of a KO, while he is available at 14-1 to triumph by decision.

Betfair’s Alex Bake said: “Evensen will prove a tough test on the night, but Burns is the champion, he’s fighting in front of a home crowd and the punters think that should be enough to see him over the line.”
