Las Vegas - Richardson Hitchins (11-0) took another step towards contender status with a shutout victory over Nick DeLomba (16-3) in their super lightweight bout. The fight served as the chief support underneath the Keith Hunter-Sanjarbek Rakhmanov SHOBOX main event. The final scores were 100-90 on all 3 scorecards.

The 2016 Haitian Olympian's advantage in speed was very evident from the opening bell.  DeLomba hardly threw a punch in the first round as he tried to time Hitchins.  He wasn't much busier in the 2nd round either. Hitchins began to unload combinations without much return fire.

DeLomba started to move forward in the 3rd and 4th round but his aggressiveness wasn't very effective.  Hitchins continued to avoid most of his punches while turning up his own output.

The middle rounds were more of the same.  Hitchins superior speed and footwork enabled him to move back and forth and side to side with ease as he peppered DeLomba's face. DeLomba was warned early in the 7th for throwing rabbit punches by referee Russell Mora.

In the 8th round both fighters stood their ground and exchanged for the first time. Both men landed multiple hard shots with DeLomba landing his best punch of the night.  After the punch Hitchins backed up then proceeded to come right at his opponent and landed several hard body shots before the bell sounded to end the round.

Hitchins went back to boxing in the 9th and 10th as he cruised to the decision victory.

The 22-year-old Hitchins went 4-0 in 2019 with 2 knockouts.  Tonight's fight was his 2nd scheduled for 10 rounds. DeLomba had won his previous 5 fights with 3 coming via stoppage.
