Light heavyweight Richie “Popeye” Rivera won a unanimous decision over Devaun Lee in a 10-round main event Saturday at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Rivera (26-2, 19 KOs), of Hartford, Connecticut, showed his whole arsenal against Lee by fighting aggressively and playing to the crowd. Known as a tough and dangerous opponent, Lee (11-12, 6 KOs), of Queens, New York, took it all and kept firing back throughout.

All three judges saw the decision for Rivera, 100-90, 97-93 and 97-93.

In a co-feature battle between undefeated junior featherweights, Travon Lawson (6-0, 3 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, edged out a controversial split decision over Rajon Chance (8-1-1, 6 KOs) of East Orange, New Jersey. In a minor upset, Lawson was given the nod on two scorecards, 77-75, while the third judge saw it 78-73 for Chance.

Undercard results:

In a six-round heavyweight bout, Demek Edmonds and Luis Miguel Valera won an entertaining split decision. Edmonds (9-0, 7 KOs), of Worcester, Massachusetts, remained undefeated while Valera, a very tough Cuban now based in Houston, fell to 4-3-2 (1 KO).

Sharif Rahman took a tough decision over Kijonti Davis (1-4, 1 KO) in a four-round middleweight bout. Las Vegas’ Rahman, son of former heavyweight world titleholder Hasim Rahman, improved to 8-0 (4 KO).

Undefeated lightweight Jacob Marrero stopped Ryan Venable (4-20) in the second round of their scheduled four-round bout. Marrero, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, moved to 6-0 (5 KOs).

New York City firefighter Louis Maietta (4-4-2, 1 KO), of the Bronx, scored the first stoppage win of his career by finishing Erick Alves (0-3) in the second round of a scheduled four-round super middleweight fight.
