The D Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada - For the vacant IBF Inter-Continental lightweight title, Richard Commey (22-0, 20KOs) proved that his power was for real with an eight round stoppage win over Bahodir Mamadjonov (17-2, 11KOs).

Mamadjonov started well and seemed to be too fast for Commey in the first few rounds. Commey started finding himself in the third. Commey clipped Mamadjonov during the fifth and had him in all sorts of trouble. Mamadjonov took some big hits to the head and the body but was able to weather the heavy storm and make it to the bell.

Mamadjonov recovered in the sixth, landing some very good right hands and outworking Commey for most of the round. Commey once again was able to hurt Mamadjonov with damaging punches in the seventh. And once again Mamadjonov was staging a rally at the start of the eight. But Commey returned fire with combinations and finally sent Mamadjonov down halfway through the round. Mamadjonov made it up but he was in serious trouble and continued to take damage until Robert Byrd had to jump in to wave things off.

Commey recently signed with promoters Sauerland Event and King Sports.

In his most impressive win to date, middleweight prospect Arif Magomedov (15-0, 9KOs) stopped dangerous veteran Darnell Boone (21-22-4, 10KOs) in the first round.
