A opponent has been found to face former champion Ricardo Mayorga on December 17 in Miami, Florida. The card, put together by promoter Don King, will have a WBC heavyweight eliminator as the main event, with Ray Austin facing Odlanier Solis.

American Michael Walker, with a record of 19 wins, 5 losses and two draws, has accepted the fight. Walker has faced such opponents as David “The Destroyer” López,  Daniel Jacobs, Anthun Echols, Fernando Guerrero and Andy Lee. However, it must be said that Walker has lost five of his last six bouts. In his last major fight, against Lee in September, he was stopped in eight rounds.

Mayorga (28-7-1, 22 KOs) has not been in the ring since September 2008 when he was knocked out in the last second of a 12-round bout by Shane Mosley. However, Mayorga is a fighter who always generates interest and he will light up the crowd at the American Airlines Arena, home of the Miami Heat.
