Eddy Reynoso is convinced that Frank Sanchez will be the first Cuban heavyweight champion in professional boxing.

The renowned coach is confident that with a little more time and preparation, Sanchez will triumph where many of his compatriots have failed.

Reynoso estimates that he has in his stable the man who will rise to the top of boxing's heaviest division at a time when there is no shortage of quality figures in the weight class.

The Cuban boxer will face Christian Hammer in the co-featured fight of the Fox Sports PPV on January 1 from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Reynoso likes the upcoming bout with Hammer, who came in on late notice after original opponent Carlos Negron tested positive for COVID-19. The veteran coach expects a dominant win by his unbeaten charge.

“It's a good fight, a good test for Frank. I think Frank has all the attributes to be a world champion. He is a very disciplined fighter, very talented. I don't think he should have a problem winning on Saturday," Reynoso told George Ebro.

“Frank is a very talented boxer. No change should be complicated for him. He comes very well prepared physically. His talent is so great that a Hammer-type fighter shouldn't complicate things. So, we expect a victory on his part. He wants to keep growing in boxing. I feel that this year he grew a lot, he had good fights, he won a very important fight and that kept him focused and disciplined in the gym.

“We hope that in one or two more fights he is ready to fight for a world championship. And not just be ready to fight for it.... but winning a world championship. I think he has all the attributes; he has the hunger, dedication and sacrifice that not just any boxer makes.''
