Lightweight (135 lbs) champion of the NABA, Puerto Rican prospect Rey 'The Maestro' Ojeda (15-0, 9KO's), took another big step in his career as a professional boxer, as he signed on with manager/adviser Al Haymon, who works with over 170 fighters - including Floyd Mayweather Jr. Haymon recently signed two other fighters from Puerto Rico, Jose Pedraza and Luis Rosario.

"I am very happy with this step that I'm taking in my boxing career. Thanks to the great work and effort made my promoter Javier Bustillo and my handler Margaro Cruz, now I can celebrate this achievement. Since coming to Universal Promotions, my career has turned 180 degrees and I know that bigger things are on the way," Ojeda said.

"Al Haymon is currently the most important boxing world figure. This agreement guarantees me good opportunities and great pay. In this sport we have to think of securing our future and that of our family right now, because in a few weeks I will become a father."

'The Maestro' Ojeda, who is ranked #13 by the WBA and #15 by the WBO, will return to the ring this Saturday, February 28th, at the Coliseo Fernando 'Rube' Hernández de Gurabo, where he will defend his lightweight championship against the experienced Mexican boxer, Sergio 'The Twin' Villanueva (26-5-2, 13KO's).

"We have a great relationship with Al Haymon and his group. We continue to work every day to bring our fighters to the next level. These firms give a huge push to careers of our guys. Good things are happening and more firms are coming," said the president of Universal Promotions, Javier Bustillo.
