Ivan Redkach respects Regis Prograis’ power and the fact that the former WBA super lightweight title-holder has lost only once to an undefeated, unified 140-pound champion.

The Ukrainian southpaw suspects Prograis doesn’t have comparable respect for him. Redkach feels like he is being overlooked entering their 10-round, 142-pound fight on the Jake Paul-Ben Askren undercard Saturday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, much the way he believes Devon Alexander underestimated him before Redkach knocked out Alexander in the sixth round of their June 2019 bout.

Prograis (25-1, 21 KOs) is listed by the William Hill sports book as a 50-1 favorite, yet Redkach (23-5-1, 18 KOs, 1 NC) contends that he has boxed better competition than the 32-year-old Prograis has faced.

“I don’t wanna say anything bad about Prograis, but let’s be honest – I’ve had probably the better opponents,” Redkach said, according to a translator, during a press conference Thursday. “You know, I’ve lost only five fights and four I lost to former world champions. Yeah, his resume looks great. He has [26] fights and only one loss. If you look at his resume, it looks perfect. But if you take a look closely, you will notice that he’s been fighting probably with like, you know, kids. And the only person he lost to was [Josh] Taylor. And Taylor was the really good fighter he fought. You know, compared to the other 24 fighters, he’s great. … If you take a close look [at Prograis’ record], you will be a little disappointed.”

Four of Redkach’s five losses have come against former champions Danny Garcia, Argenis Mendez, Tevin Farmer and Dejan Zlaticanin. The 35-year-old Redkach went the distance with Garcia, Mendez and Farmer.

John Molina Jr. also knocked out Redkach in the fourth round of their slugfest in December 2017, the same round in which Zlaticanin stopped him in June 2015.

Prograis, a New Orleans native who resides in Katy, Texas, has dropped only a 12-round majority decision to Scotland’s Taylor (17-0, 13 KOs) in their 140-pound title unification fight in October 2019 at O2 Arena in London.

The Prograis-Redkach fight will be the co-feature before Paul (2-0, 2 KOs), of Calabasas, California, and Askren (pro debut), a former UFC fighter from Hartland, Wisconsin, are set to meet in the main event, an eight-round cruiserweight fight. Paul-Askren will headline Triller Fight Club’s four-fight pay-per-view show (9 p.m. ET; $49.99).
