Former two division world champion Rances Barthelemy is confident in his ability to take down unbeaten puncher Gary Antuanne Russell.

The fight will take place on July 30 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Their bout will be part of a Showtime televised tripleheader, which is headlined by a junior middleweight fight between Danny Garcia and Jose Benavidez.

Russell (15-0, 15 KOs), the younger brother of former featherweight champion Gary Russell, has stopped all of his opponents inside the distance.

In his last fight, back in February, the 25-year-old became the first boxer to put away former champion Viktor Postol inside the distance.

Barthelemy (29-1-1, 15 KOs) has won two bouts in a row since going to a draw with Robert Easter in 2019.

At 36-years-old, the upcoming bout is a make or break opportunity. A loss to an up and comer like Russell will send Barthelemy spiraling down the rankings. But a victory will bring him a step closer to securing another world title shot.

Barthelemy has never been stopped, with his sole defeat being a twelve round decision loss at the hands of Kiryl Relikh in 2018.

“I’m thrilled to be competing on Showtime, especially against an undefeated young lion like Gary Antuanne Russell,” said Barthelemy.

“He’s knocked out every opponent he’s faced, but he’s going to find out real quick that I’m on another level. I’m more determined than ever to take this young kid to school. Don’t be surprised if I take him out, as I’ve been working on my power and explosiveness. The new and improved version of myself will be on display July 30 in Brooklyn.”
