On September 26th in Lemoore, California Top Rank will present a fight card to be televised by Unimas. In the main event undefeated Olympian Jose Ramirez will take on an opponent to be named later. Denver, Colorado’s Manuel ‘Manos’ Perez is rumored to be ‘on the short list’ of possible opponents for this bout.

The televised co main event is signed, sealed and delivered and features a pair of junior middleweight prospects who will clash over 8 rounds for a jr. NABF title. The fight pits undefeated, but untested, Danny ‘El Chapulin’ Valdivia, 8-0, 6KOs, hailing from nearby Tulare, against Jeremy ‘The Boxing Barber’ Ramos, from Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Valdivia had a good amateur career which included a pair of National PAL Titles and two Adidas National Boxing tournament titles. He turned professional in August of 2013 with a 2nd round TKO over Jarmaris Chaney. He was very excited and picked up the moniker ‘Chapulin’ in the process, being Spanish for grasshoper. He has been moved along carefully to his current record facing the usual suspects and no one over .500.

Ramos has been in with much better competition on his way to 9-1. The lone blemish on his record, a 6 round decision loss to Brad Jackson, is farcical at best. Ramos simply laid an egg that night, period. He is levels above Jackson. His first big test was against another undefeated Colorado prospect in Giovanni Merceron. Merceron was highly touted coming from the Grudge Training Center and trained by the world class Trevor Wittman. Ramos took his ‘0’ while nearly shutting Merceron out on the scorecards.

Ramos fought Rene Marquez on the Alvarado-Rios III undercard, stopping him in the third and catching the eye of Top Rank. He next fought New Mexico’s Arturo Crespin, 12-4-1, 4KOs and stopped him in the fourth. This past weekend he beat another undefeated fighter in Johnny Rodriguez who was 5-0, 5KOs coming in. Ramos can fight.

This is Ramos’ chance to shine and he is excited for the opportunity. Ramos is trained by his father Juan at the Old School Boxing Gym run by Terry Buterbaugh. Top Rank will get to take another look at Ramos against a great opponent for evaluation and Ramos gets to showcase his skill-set for the Top Rank brass as well as a televised audience.
