Lightweight contender Marvin "Cachorro" Quintero (27-6) is looking to pick up the biggest win of his career when he faces Jeffrey Fontanez (16-1) Friday night in the main event of Golden Boy's LA Fight Club series. The fight will be televised on Estrella TV.

Quintero, who was born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, México, said that he had his greatest training camp ever and trained alongside another Sinaloa native.

"I had the best training camp of my career. I trained alongside Humberto Soto for a month in Toluca. We sparred many rounds against each other and I am ready to go," said Quintero.

The 28-year-old Quintero hopes a win over Fontanez brings him a title shot. Quintero came very close to winning a world title in 2012 when he dropped  a split decision to Miguel Vazquez.

"This is a great opportunity for me. Jeffrey Fontanez is a good fighter with a great record. He has a good punch and it's great that we will be able to exchange in the ring. Beating him will move me up the rankings and get me closer to fighting for a title," Quintero explained.

With Fontanez being a Puerto Rican, Quintero said that he is honored to once again be part of the great México versus Puerto Rico rivalry.

"I feel like it's a great responsibility to be part of this rivalry representing Mexico. This will be my third time fighting a Puerto Rican.  I won the first and lost the second. It's very important that I win this fight for Mexico and myself," Quintero told BoxingScene.com.
