This Saturday night, Joel Casamayor steps in the ring with Diego Corrales for the third time in his career. The first bout saw a fight of the year battle with Casamayor stopping Corrales in 6 rounds. The rematch saw Corrales box his way to twelve round decision. Both fighters do not like eachother and have vowed to win by knockout.

BoxingScene caught up with Joel Casamayor to ask him a few questions regarding the big fight.

BoxingScene.com: Joel, the trilogy is finally here. You have been waiting for this fight for a long time. Calling out Corrales for a long time. You started camp early for this fight. How do you feel?

Joel Casamayor: I’m very happy that he gave me the rematch. I'm in great shape. I started camp early. I respect Diego. We are the best 135 pounders in the world. Of course me being number one and him being number two. I've proved that and come October 7th, we are going to see who the man is.

I'm going to prove to everybody that I am the best Cuban fighter of all time. The only Cuban fighter to win an Olympic gold medal and a championship in the pro ranks. I'm going to prove that I am the best fighter in the world, not just the best Cuban fighter in the world.

BoxingScene.com: Is this the most important fight of your career?

Joel Casamayor: Yes. I feel that this is the most important fight of my life. They have him as this unstoppable guy, but he's going to get stopped. Come October 7th, I'm going to take my title back that I originally took from Jose Luis Castillo, but they gave him the fight. Come October 7, there will be a story to tell - Casamayor the new world champion.

BoxingScene.com: How was training camp?

Joel Casamayor: I feel great. We have a new team with Roger Bloodworth. He started my career with me, my first twelve fights and I feel comfortable with him. He's a great trainer. He had 23 world champions. I cant wait, Im delighted for this fight.

BoxingScene.com: After this fight, what would you want next?

Joel Casamayor: I always fight with the best. It's what I came here for. Hopefully Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera or Juan Diaz, one of them steps up. One guy is going to win on the night of October 7, and that's going to be me.

BoxingScene.com: Good luck in the fight.

Joel Casamayor: Thank you.
