ORANGE, CA – As amateurs, Ivan Stovall and James Parison were both one break away from Olympic glory.  As professionals, they are coming up the hard way and impressing fight fans with their talent and determination.  On Friday, October 19th, Thompson Boxing Promotions will pit these two highly-touted Southern California prospects against each other in an eight-round “Head2Head” battle that may determine which fighter becomes the future of the super middleweight division.

“Head2Head”, a six bout card featuring the best of California professional boxing, will be presented by Thompson Boxing Promotions at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California.  For tickets, priced at $75, $45, and $30, please call 714-935-0900.

A decorated United States amateur who competed in the 2004 Olympic trials and was a finalist in the Everlast US Championships, super middleweight Ivan Stovall (9-1, 6 KOs) hopes to follow in the footsteps of another Pomona resident, Sugar Shane Mosley, who rose from Olympic disappointment to the heights of the pro game. Stovall is fresh off a shutout eight round decision over rugged Ernesto Castaneda on July 27.

San Diego’s James Parison is no stranger to amateur glory himself, having won a National Golden Gloves title in 2001 and also earning a spot in the 2004 Olympic trials.  As a pro, the 25-year old’s record is a pristine 8-0 with 3 KOs.  In his last fight, on August 24th, Parison stopped Anthony Cannon in just two rounds.

In the eight round super flyweight co-feature, 19-year old prospect Manuel “Suavecito” Roman (10-0-2, 5 KOs) of Los Angeles will put his unbeaten record on the line against San Diego veteran Benjie Garcia (12-8-3, 1 KO), a hard nosed battler who has faced ten unbeaten fighters in his six year career and who is coming off a big win over Sergio Espinoza on June 29th.

Also in action will be power punching junior middleweight Rafael Lopez (2-0, 2 KOs) of Riverside in a four rounder against a to be announced opponent, a four round bantamweight clash between Lancaster’s Obed Pamatz (1-0, 1 KO) and San Jacinto’s Eddie Leal (0-2), and a super featherweight match up pitting Hemet’s Ricardo Martinez Torres (1-1) against San Diego’s Vincent O’Neill (0-1-1).

Opening up this hard-hitting show is a four round super featherweight bout featuring the pro debut of Santa Ana’s own Luis Ramos against Hector Roman (1-1) of Los Angeles.

Bouts subject to change. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the first bell rings at 7:45 pm.  The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 North Vineyard Avenue in Ontario.
