Droylsden’s Prince Arron has hooked up with former super featherweight Commonwealth title challenger Steven Bell in a bid to get back amongst the titles after suffering the disappointment of losing his light-middleweight crown to Blackpool’s Brian Rose last December.  Arron decided to move on from Bob Shannon’s Fighting Fit camp earlier this month and will now train with Bell at Kerry Kayes’s CNP-owned, Denton-based Betta Bodies gym.

Bell won ABA featherweight titles in 1997 and 2001.  A star amateur – he was known as “The Daddy” in the unpaid ranks – the 36-year-old now holds a professional trainer’s license and is keen to share his extensive knowledge with a new generation of fighters.

Kayes will assist Bell both in the gym and on fight nights, the nutritionist has worked with Ricky Hatton, Jamie Moore and John Murray, among many others, and believes that Arron can be built into an outstanding middleweight.

“Arron has come to try out things with Steven,” said Kayes when confirming the news to Boxingscene.com.  “Arron’s now at Betta Bodies, so we’ve been doing some weights.  I’ve been showing him how they can make him stronger for a fight.  I think he’ll be strong at middleweight.  Arron is enjoying the application of doing weights in sport specific movements.  Me and ‘Bellos’ go back since he was 15 when he was boxing under Ted Peat [who also guided Hatton when “The Hitman” was an amateur].  I’ve know Steve for a long time and will help out in the corner.”

Arron slipped to 21-4-1 (4) after losing to Rose.  Shannon whipped him into phenomenal pre-fight shape.  However, the 6’ 3’’ fighter was unable to solve Rose’s style and was a clear loser on the night.  Shannon guided the 24-year-old to a Prizefighter tournament win in 2010 before taking him on to the British crown.
