"Relentless" Javier Prieto (24-7-2, 18KOs) is promising to impose his 'Mexican style' on former world champion Jorge "Golden Boy" Linares of Venezuela. Linares's record is 37-3, 24KOs. All three of Linares' defeats have come at the hands of Mexican fighters - Juan Carlos Salgado, Antonio DeMarco and Sergio "Yeyo" Thompson - and all of those defeats were by knockout.

On December 30th at the Metropolitan Gym in Tokyo, Linares and Prieto will battle for the vacant WBC lightweight title.

"I arrived in good time. We were well looked after by the sponsoring company, we have a gym to train in and support at all times with the language. I know Linares has been a world champion, but my motivation is centered around the opportunity of a lifetime. I think about my family, my team and that drives me because I will return to Mexico as world champion," said Prieto.

"We have studied my opponent well. We saw videos of his fights and we've established the strategy. I'm coming in without fear. We will fight him one on one for every second of every round, with intensity but with a lot of intelligence. We're not going to give him the opportunity to think."
