Tonight, at the (Great Western) Forum in Inglewood, California, a new obligatory challenger for the light welterweight unified (WBA/WBC) champion Danny Garcia will be defined in a stylistic match-up between WBC #1 Ukrainian boxer Victor Postol (25-0, 10 KOs) and WBC #2 Turkish slugger Selcuk Aydin (26-2, 19 KOs). The fight will fall into the undercard of a greater showdown between Juan Manuel Marquez and Mike Alvarado.

Postol’s manager Vadim Kornilov, who also guides WBO light welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov, WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev and 2012 London Olympics light heavyweight gold medalist Egor Mekhontsev among others, is confident his protégé’s will secure a victory.

“Victor is 100% ready for the fight. Aydin has to overcome not only Postol but also Team Postol, filled in with competent professionals, who did their best for Victor’s preparation. Aydin has to overcome the input of every part of our team, including Victor’s Ukrainian promoter Elite Boxing, which supported Postol all the way and provided him with the perfect gym and conditions for the training camp”, said Kornilov to Allboxing.ru.

“Victor has been guided by Freddie Roach and Marvin Somodio, as well as by the Ukrainian coach Alexander Polischuk, in preparation for the upcoming extravaganza. He has also been guided by our conditioning guru Gavin McMillan, who also works with Ruslan (Provodnikov) and Miguel Cotto. Postol sparred mainly with Ruslan and Sukhrab Shidaev (rising prospect with 8-0, 6 KOs, record), whom I personally consider to be a better fighter than Aydin. We shall see a great match-up of styles and a fascinating two-way action. Don’t miss it!”
