New York - According to former world champion Shawn Porter (28-2-1, 17 KO’s), he's been more than patient enough in waiting for a big fight.

“This year you will see Shawn Porter in with Keith Thurman and if not Danny Garcia,” Porter told BoxingScene.com.

Porter was victorious in both his fights last year. Though both victories over Andre Berto (31-5, 24 KO’s) and Adrian Granados (18-6-2, 12 KO’s) were solid, they weren't the big name fights he was hoping for.

“I’m not here to play,” Porter said. “I didn’t come here for this. I didn’t ask for these cameras to be put in front of me. My job is to fight, make people happy in the stands and make money to take care of my family. These guys out here playing. Keith Thurman is playing.”

Porter was surprised when he found out Danny Garcia (33-1, 19 KO’s), another fighter he has been linked to for a possible showdown, signed on to fight Brandon Rios (34-3-1, 25 KO’s) in a final WBC eliminator in February.

“What?” questioned Porter. “I had to make a phone call myself to see what was going on. Basically the winner of Keith Thurman and myself is going to fight the winner of Danny Garcia and Brandon Rios. We all expect Danny Garcia to win but I don’t even know why they made that fight. He should have just go on and fought me.”

When Thurman came on the boxing scene a few years back, he made statements by calling out the likes of Paulie Malignaggi, Miguel Cotto, and even Floyd Mayweather.

However now as a unified champion in the 147 lb. division, Thurman has told guys that they have to wait their turn and earn it.

Porter feels that Thurman (28-0, 22 KO’s) hasn’t earned that right.

“None of us have earned the right to tell guys they have to do more to fight us. There was a time people were asking about Mayweather and his opponents. But none of us have earned the right but when you have a belt, it makes you feel like you’re somebody, makes him feel like he's the boss. I’m ready to tell him different,” Porter said.
