Jay Nady will be the third man in the ring for the May 4 featherweight title fight at the MGM Grand between Daniel Ponce De Leon and Abner Mares.

Nady was selected at the April 8 meeting of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The other candidates to be the third man in the ring for that bout were Kenny Bayless, Vic Drakulich and Tony Weeks.

The judges, meanwhile, will be Richard Houck and Robert Hoyle of Nevada, and Michael Pernick of Florida.

The other candidates to score that bout were Burt Clements, Patricia Morse Jarman, Dave Moretti, Richard Ocasio and Glenn Trowbridge of Nevada, and Don Griffin of Texas.

There were no objections to these names from either fighter’s camp.

Nady was the referee for Ponce De Leon’s decision win over Cornelius Lock in 2010 and his knockout of Sod Looknongyantoy in 2006, as well as Mares’ stoppage of Diosdado Gabi in 2008, according to BoxRec.com

Houck is listed as having scored two of Ponce De Leon’s bouts last year, having him ahead for his technical decision over Jhonny Gonzalez and his unanimous decision over Eduardo Lazcano. He was also a judge for Mares’ stoppage of Gabi in 2008 and his unanimous decision over Omar Adorno in 2006. Hoyle judged one bout each for both fighters, sitting ringside for Mares’ stoppage of Jonathan Perez in 2009 and Ponce De Leon’s unanimous decision win over Eduardo Escobedo in 2007.
