Murat Gassiev and Jordan Shimmell both made weight for their cruiserweight title semifinal eliminator, which headlines Tuesday evening at Black Bear Casino in Carlton, Minnesota.

Gassiev tipped the scales at 199.2-pounds, while Shimmell checked in at a trim and ready 196 pounds. Their scheduled 12-round bout will headline the next installment of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on FS1 (Tuesday, 9:00 p.m. ET).

The main event pairing is an interesting scenario, as both fighters were in a similar position roughly this time one year ago - and both involving separate fights with Isiah Thomas. Gassiev (22-0-0-1NC, 16KOs) has not fought since a two-round No-Contest versus Thomas last December, a bout that was billed as final eliminator with the winner to earn a shot at a cruiserweight title.

Unfortunately no winner came of the evening, as the fight ended on what was ruled an accidental foul. Gassiev landed a punch after the bell, with Thomas unable to continue to prior to the start of round three.

The bout came five months after Thomas scored a 10-round decision win over Shimmell (20-1, 16KOs), who has since rebounded from the lone loss of his career with a disqualification win earlier this year.

Like Gassiev, Shimmell (20-1, 16 KOs) has faced Thomas, but with a different result. On July 25, Thomas outboxed Shimmell over 10 rounds, winning a unanimous decision.

Shimmell rebounded from the loss to Thomas his last bout on February 27, winning by disqualification in the fourth round against veteran Willis Lockett.

Shimmell is ranked number 13 by the IBF.

The winner of Tuesday's bout will move into the number-two contender slot for unbeaten cruiserweight champ Krzysztof Glowacki, who is due to next defend his title versus mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk.

Also on the FS1 broadcast, unbeaten heavyweight John Nofire (19-0, 15 KOs) squares off against off against hard-hitting Joey Abell (31-9, 29 KOs) of nearby Coon Rapids.
