Thabiso Mchunu and Garrett Wilson headline a rare Saturday afternoon edition of boxing on NBC, as the cruiserweights collide at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

Both fighters easily made weight for their scheduled 10-round regional title fight (Saturday, NBC, 3:00PM ET). Mchunu (16-1, 11KOs) came in at 199 lb., while Wilson (13-7, 7KOs) tipped the scales at a trim and ready 193 lb.

The bout marks the first card on regular NBC since last November, a show that also featured Wilson. The Philly-based journeyman answered the call to face heavyweight contender Vyacheslav Glazkov on just two days notice, filling in for an ailing Tomasz Adamek who abruptly withdrew during fight week.

Wilson nearly pulled off the upset, giving Glazkov a major scare before coming up just short on the cards. He has not fought since then, but in facing Mchunu enjoys a welcome return to the cruiserweight division.

Saturday's bout marks the third straight stateside appearance for Mchunu, who'd previously spent his career exclusively at home in South Africa. The squat southpaw enjoyed a breakout performance in his stateside debut, scoring a major upset win over Eddie Chambers last August.

The bout was his first of what is now three consecutive appearances on Main Events' 'Fight Night' series, which normally airs on NBC Sports Network. His most recent win came in January, scoring a 10-round decision over Olanrewaju Durodola in Atlantic City.

In the televised co-feature, unbeaten lightweight prospect Karl Dargan faces Angino Perez in a scheduled 10-round bout. Both fighters weighed in at 134 lb.
