The fight began with Crawford fighting as a southpaw. Both were jabbing. Spence was targeting the body off the jab. Crawford with a good counter when Spence tried to trap him in the corner. In the second, Spence was back on the jab and pushing Crawford back. Spence was able to land well off the jab. It was very technical. Crawford was starting to land his own jab. Crawford landed a hard left jab in the closing seconds to score a knockdown. First time Spence was down as a pro.

Spence came out letting his hands go at the start of the third and was taking the fight to Crawford. Spence was very aggressive. Crawford was countering well at times with a hard jab. In the fourth, Crawford came out firing more often with the jab and digging to the body. Both landed hard shots, but it was Crawford landing better and tagging Spence up. The face of Spence was starting to look real rough. 

In the fifth, Crawford went right back to unloading with his big shots on Spence, who kept getting caught every time he stepped in. Spence landed a big left hand and Crawford took it well. Crawford came out pressing the fight in the sixth and looking to make Spence go backwards. Spence was targeting the body in close, Crawford landing much better to the head. 

Spence was trying to come forward in the seventh to do damage, but Crawford was lighting him up with much bigger punches. As Spence was landing on Crawford, he was dropped for a second time from an uppercut. At the end of the round, Crawford dropped Spence for a third time with a right hook at the end of the round.

In the eight, Crawford was pushing forward and controlling everything. Spence was moving and boxing. Crawford was unloading at times on Spence with heavy shots. Spence was able to connect, but not able to land flush. The ninth began with Crawford's jab leading the way. Spence was trying to fight back, but getting countered. Crawford was unloading and the referee stepped in to wave off the fight.
