SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO - Team Puerto Rico promises to impress in the Big Apple, where two boxing events will be loaded with the finest boxers that Puerto Rico has to offer. The events are organized to be implemented over the weekend of the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York. On June 10 and 11, the Roseland Ballroom will play host to top-level Puerto Rican boxing when Gary Shaw Productions ("GSP") DiBella Entertainment (DBE) and Universal Promotions (UP) will present Boricua Invasion I and II. Boricua Invasion I will be broadcast live on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights, while Boricua Invasion II will be televised live on the Showtime boxing series "ShoBox: The New Generation."

 

Both events will include the participation of the most prominent members of the Team Puerto Rico Boxing Team. These events were made possible by GSP, DBE, UP, and Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing.

Boricua Invasion I, with the participation of hard-hitting, Kenny "Battlestar" Galarza (14-1, 14 KOs), of Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, will be in the main event against compatriot, Irving Garcia.

"I am grateful for this opportunity and to face a fighter of the quality of Garcia in this great event," said Galarza, a native of Juana Díaz.

In semi-feature will be the unstoppable welterweight Thomas Dulorme (11-0, 10 KO's) who will face former world champion DeMarcus Corley (37-17-1, 22 KOs). In this fight the regional title of the NABA will be at stake.

"This will be the biggest challenge of my career but I am prepared to Corley. We have studied him a lot and I know we'll fight to walk away with the win," said Dulorme, a fighter represented by Universal Promotions, Gary Shaw Productions and DiBella Entertainment.

Furthermore, in a fight that will also will be televised, former Puerto Rican Olympic team participant and winner of a gold medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games Mayagüez in 2010, 21 year old José Pedraza (2-0, 2 KO's) will be measured against Tomi Archambult (1-1, 1KO).

Tickets for Boricua Invasion I, Friday, June 10 are priced at $ 45, $ 75, $ 125 and $ 175 and are available through Ticketmaster.com, you can order by phone, or at any Ticketmaster outlet . On Friday, the doors will open at 6:00 pm and the action starts at 6:30.

The following night, Boricua Invasion II will have five members of Team Puerto Rico. This card will be headlined by the undefeated Puerto Rican featherweight Luis "Orlandito" Del Valle (12-0, 10 KO's) will face the toughest test of his young career when he faces the Vietnamese Dat "Be Dat" Nguyen (17-1, 6 KOs). In this fight will be in the title of NABA, which is part of the World Boxing Association.

Also to be televised on ShoBox, will be Puerto Rican Hector "El Flaco" Sanchez (19-1, 9 KO's) who faces his compatriot, Vicent Arroyo (11-1, 7KO), who is coming off an eight-round decision over previously unbeaten Willie Nelson.

"This is a great opportunity for me and I will profit the most. Arroyo is a strong fighter and I know we will give a great fight for the viewers," said Sanchez, fighter represented by Universal Promotions, Gary Shaw Productions and DiBella Entertainment.

In addition, the card will feature the hard-hitting Jonathan "Butter" Gonzalez (13-0, 13 KO's) against an opponent to be named.

"I'm in the prime of my career and I'm training like never before to show my quality to the world. I want to win the regional title, because I know I'll be closer to my goal of becoming world champion," said Gonzalez, a native of Barrio Obrero.

An attraction, outside of television, will see unbeaten Gabriel "Tito" Bracero face an opponent to be announced in the coming days.

Tickets for Boricua Invasion II, on Saturday, June 11, are priced at $ 55, $ 85, $ 150 and $ 200 and are available through Ticketmaster.com, charge by phone, or at any Ticketmaster outlet. On Saturday, doors open at 7:00 pm and the action starts at 7:30.
