GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO- Argentinian Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez was honored this afternoon by the WBO and presidente Francisco "Paco" Valcárcel" with the belts of Middleweight Champion and Superchampion and meet with some of the puertorrican World Champions at the Museo del Deporte de Puerto Rico. Martínez (45-2-2 y 24 KOs) received the Champion belt from Ivan Calderon and the Super Champion belt from hands of Juan Manuel Lopez in an event where the titlist were joined by his trainer Gabriel Sarmiento and his advisor Sampson Lewcowicz and from DiBella Entertainment, Ron Rizzo.

“It's an honor to have Sergio Martínez here because he is one of the better champions today and also a good person. congratulationas to Sergio", Valcarcel said.          

 

Martínez won his crown last April when he dethroned superchampion Kelly Pavlik in a clearly unanimous decision. Martínez was 154 lbs champions also.

Additionaly to Calderon and Lopez, there was in the event, world champions Wilfredo Vázquez Jr., Roman "Rocky" Martínez, prospects Carlos Negrón and Jason “La Maravilla” Vélez, and former world champions Wilfredo Vázquez and Álex “El Nene” Sánchez. Also, WBO judges César Ramos, Nelson Vázquez, José H. Rivera and Roberto Ramírez, and by the WBO Valcárcel, Adolfo Flores, Luis Batista Salas, Manuel Marrero Hueca and Mario Rivera Martinó. Promoters Iván and Peter Rivera from PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) there in the event.
