Brandon Rios just won the fight of his life 2 weeks ago, Robert Garcia is one of the busiest trainers in the world, Trainer of the year 2011, busy guys, but that doesn't stop them from giving back to the people who need it the most, Children suffering from cancer and their families. Saturday, October 27, 2012 Brandon Rios along with his trainer Robert Garcia, team Donald Leary, Nancy Rodriguez and his wife Vicky Rios facilitated a Boxing Clinic at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles, California. For the non-profit organization Brandon is Ambassador of, PADRES CONTRA EL CANCER's (Parents Against Cancer) HOPE Fair.

At times when you have a child suffering from an illness such as cancer, as family member you focus so much of your time to the child, you forget to care for yourself. PADRES held this HOPE Fair so the child, as well as their parents and siblings, can get FREE Health Screenings, Dental Screenings, Information on how to stay healthy as a family to be strong and support your child through the process of the treatments.

Brandon Rios was invited to this event post his October 13th victory against Mike Alvarado, and even if he always takes some much needed time to rest and spend with his family, without hesitation he agreed to be part of this HOPE Fair. When Brandon asked busy trainer, Robert Garcia, to accompany him, he also agreed immediately. The boxing clinic was mainly targeted to the Fathers of the Children and older siblings but all children were welcomed. It was held in a classroom setting where Robert Garcia and Brandon Rios spoke about the sport of Boxing, the Dedication, the discipline the sport requires but most importantly the heart, the fact every fighter, every trainer has to love Boxing to appreciate the sport and be fully dedicated. There were many questions asked by the fathers in the clinic, Robert and Brandon answered every single one. As a matter of fact, the clinic went a little over their time because the Q & A's were so interesting. Robert Garcia and Donald Leary also invited the Fathers to participating in a mini boxing lesson, hitting the mitts. The fathers loved it!

Overall it was a very humbling experience for Brandon, Robert and Team Rios. Its very nice to be able to help these Fathers focus on something other than treatments, appointments and hospital visits at least for an hour of their time. The smiles in their faces said it all! Thank you Padres Contra El Cancer for the opportunity of letting Team Rios put a smile on these kids and families faces!
