WBC super bantamweight champion Rey Vargas has completed the lion’s share of his preparation for this Saturday’s defense against interim champion Tomoki Kameda at the Dignity Health Sports Center in Carson, California.

Rey who has a perfect record of 33 wins, with 22 of them by way of KO , is ready to face the Japanese contender.

“I am happy with the love of my people and fully  motivated for what is coming. We face a very complicated opponent. A Japanese warrior who always comes forward but nothing that I have not faced before. We’ve worked very hard for this fight. I hope my people do not miss it because it will be a fight to remember.

“I’m ready for a war. I’m representing Otumba, and Mexico and I promise you will have a champ for a long time.”

Rey is sharp and totally prepared, a week after the open media work out. He even fulfilled the mandatory seven-day pre weigh in, registering   56,500 Kg, which is comfortably below the 57,150 kilograms set by the regulations of the World Boxing Council, which is equivalent to 3% above the limit of the division.

The long-awaited rematch  between Rey and Tomoki heads the card presented by Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Promociones del Pueblo. Also a splendid undercard with undefeated Mexican KO specialist  Eduardo ‘Rocky’ Hernández in  action,  against Venezuelan Roger ‘  The Kid ‘Gutiérrez.
