WBA junior welterweight champion Marcos Maidana is settling into camp in Oxnard, California. Working under the watchful eye of his new head trainer Robert Garcia, Maidana began his first official week in camp on Monday but has actually been in the area a little over a week.

Carrying with him a 31-3 record with 28 knockouts, Maidana is regarded as one of the fiercest punchers on the planet. Still, Garcia noted that he will be looking to hone some of his skills and make him a more relaxed fighter in the ring.

Maidana is coming off of a disappointing unanimous decision loss to Devon Alexander in February but his name still draws great interest because of his all-action style. As for his return, there is a possibility that Maidana could see time on a September 15th pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, Nevada, headlined by junior middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
