LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – World Boxing Organization (WBO) Jr. Heavyweight champion Marco Huck was honored today in the first day of works of the 27th Annual Convention taking place at the Caesar’s Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, dedicated to former WBO champions and 2014 International Boxing Hall of Fame Inductees Joe Calzaghe and Oscar de la Hoya.

The works started with the annual reports of the regional Vice-Presidents, the Treasurer and the president, Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel.

During a break, Valcarcel and members of the WBO Executive Committee gave the special recognition to Huck, a WBO champion since 2009 with 13 successful title defenses.

"We have one of our great champions here and we want to make this recognition. We are going to give him the super champion belt. We are honored to have him here," Valcarcel said.

Besides Huck, present at the meeting was female bantamweight world champion, Carolina Duer, the former female junior middleweight champion, Hanna Gabriels. Also receiving special recognition were Philippine promoter Ala Promotions, Felix "Tutico" Zabala, Osvaldo Rivero, Eduardo Mello Peixoto, Sean Gibbons, Hedi Taouab and boxers Donnie Nietes, WBO junior flyweight champion and WBO Latino junior middleweight champion, Patrick Teixeira.

 This week is expected the presence of more WBO Champions, former Champions, contenders, prospects, known trainers, managers, promoters, officials, and other political, social and cultural personalities.
