In the first minute of the opening round, Nery dropped Castro with a big left hand. Castro, down for the first time in his career, beat the count and seemed buzzed. Nery went right after him, trying to finish him off against the ropes. Nery was buzzing him, but Castro had a high guard and was moving around to clear his head.

The tempo slowed down in the second. Nery was just boxing smart and Castro was allowing him to control the pace. Things heated up in the fifth, as they were trading punches. Both were landing well. They continued to trade in the sixth, with Nery landing the harder shots.

After a gap in the action during the seventh, Nery was letting his hands go once again in the eight and made Castro made miss his counters. Nery continued to control the action the remaining rounds, with a gutsy Castro making it interesting.
