On June 8th, former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik will return to the ring when he faces off with newfound rival Scott Sigmon at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight serves as a bit of an appetizer to the blockbuster Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley melee one night later at the MGM Grand.

Now under the guidance of trainer Robert Garcia down in Oxnard, California, the Sigmon bout marks Pavlik’s second fight within a two-month span after a layoff of nearly eleven years. Getting sharper by the week, Pavlik seems to appreciate just how much different his life in Southern California is compared to his previous camps in his hometown of Youngstown, Ohio.

On Monday afternoon, Pavlik sparred some brisk rounds with undefeated super middleweight prospect Ronald ‘Akeem’ Ellis, who made Kelly work every minute he was inside the squared circle. Now campaigning in the super middleweight class himself, Pavlik will be eyeing bigger bounty if successful against Sigmon come June.
