Taylor was coming off what some felt was a controversial ten round majority decision win over Delfine Persoon back in June at Madison Square Garden in New York. The win allowed Taylor to unify the entire division by uniting the WBO, WBA, WBC, IBF titles.

Coming in, Linardatou had won four in a row since losing a ten round decision to Persoon in June of 2016.

Taylor's movement, along with her quick combinations, presented issues for Linardatou for the entire fight, Taylor's jab and defensive skills were also on full display. Linardatou came forward with a lot of pressure, round after round, but many of her punches were missing the mark.
