Former two time world champion Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez and contender Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo arrived tonight in Las Vegas for their fights this Saturday, July 12, as part of the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez against Erislandy Lara card, that will take place at the MGM Grand, in a Golden Boy Promotions presentation, to be broadcasted on Showtime Pay Per View.

Juanma Lopez (34-3, 31 KOs) will defend his WBO International junior lightweight title against Francisco “Bandido” Vargas (19-0-1, 13 KOs) in a fight scheduled to 10 rounds. For Lopez, this is the fourth time he is going to fight in Las Vegas. His last bout there was in 2010 when he beat Rafael Marquez by TKO.

Meanwhile Oquendo (24-3, 16 KOs), who is going to fight for the fifth time at the MGM Grand, will face former three time world champion Abner Mares (26-1-1, 14 KOs) in a featherweight 10 rounds scheduled bout. In Las Vegas Oquendo is 4-0 with three KOs, being his last fight there in 2007.

The main event will have former 154 pounds world champion Canelo Avarez (43-1-1, 31 KOs) facing the WBA junior middleweight titlist Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12 KOs) in a 12 rounds scheduled non-title fight.
