Photos: Jerwin Ancajas Outlasts Jonathan Rodriguez in War To Retain

The scores were 115-112, 116-111 and 117-110.

Ancajas started very patiently and was timing Rodriguez well in the first round. They were exchanging hard shots in the second, with Ancajas connecting better.

The champion was controlling the third and fourth, but Gonzalez was in the fight and doing good work as well. Ancajas was picking his punches well in the fifth, with Gonzalez not really being bothered by them.

Big punches were being exchanged in the sixth, with each boxer connecting very well. Ancajas was landing more, with Rodriguez seeming to land the harder shots. There was more give and take in the seventh, with Ancajas using his range more. During the eight, Ancajas was unloading with a lot of punches to the head and body, to send Rodriguez down in the final ten seconds.

They were brawling at the start of the ninth, with Ancajas doing more damage. He hurt Rodriguez at least two times to the body and poured on the combinations. Rodriguez was able to fire some heavy shots in the final ten seconds. At the start of the eleventh, Rodriguez went right after Ancajas. Both boxers were now a bit tired, yet they continued to trade shots. Rodriguez was getting the better of the exchanges.

Rodriguez continued to rally in the eleventh. He was pressing forward and forcing Ancajas to fight. During the twelfth and final round, Ancajas was tired, doing his best to fight and Rodriguez was getting off better with harder, accurate punches.
